I’m absolutely over the moon to have dahlias budding in my garden in EARLY JUNE!

This Maarn dahlia was begging for a bouquet, and was quite happy to oblige! One of my favorite parts of this arrangement is tan the coin-like line “flower” seed pods. I found them growing in an abandoned lot a couple blocks away. Any idea what they’re called?? I think I’m gonna need to grow them or at least keep my scissors handy while going on walks…

Dave and I have had bad luck in the past when orange flowers bloom, so we were a bit worried, but all we’ve had happen in the past 24 hours was one toenail ripped off and one fall down the stairs, so we’re calling this a win!
