My First Snapdragons of…Ever!

They’re finally here! If you’ve been following along, you know I’ve had more than a few hiccups on my snapdragons journey. But holding these lovely blooms in my hand, I know it’s all been worth it!

This delicious color palate could probably be my inspiration for an entire year! I love its warmth, boldness, and softness. And it pulls it off with a distinct, unique style. Marvelous.

I’ve got my first little harvest (nine stems) in the fridge, lodged into a pitcher with all sorts of apparatuses to keep those stems upright and hopefully avoid their geotropic tendencies to change shape when not store properly. This is my setup:

I think it should do the trick, but time will tell! I’m hoping to make up a few bouquets and do a practice run at my makeshift flower stand this Saturday. Wish me luck!

Have you grown snapdragons before? Any hints or tricks you’d like to share?

I’ve become enthralled with the coral/orange/pink combination this year.

I’m loving it too! These snaps are gorgeous, and I can’t wait for the Labyrinth dahlia to bloom. It’s got the same sort of palette. I’ve got buds, but I’m not sure how long it’ll take before they make an appearance.
